Brooklyn artist tapped to begin mural painting at Alchemy’s Griffin Court

Rendering of the winning mural at 800 10th Avenue

Brooklyn-based artist Corinne Ulmann is the winner of Alchemy Property’s mural design competition for the newly developed Griffin Condominium at 800 10th Avenue between West 53rd and 54th Streets in Hell’s Kitchen. Painting of what Alchemy says will be New York’s largest mural will commence this week and is expected to be complete in 10 days. The winning mural depicts a pattern of trees using variations of light and shadow intended to evoke the building’s 8,700-square-foot private courtyard and the nearby De Witt Clinton Park. The mural will cover two large exterior walls of the two-building condo complex, one 1,800 square feet and the other 4,700 square feet. When completed in late summer 2010, Griffin Court will contain 95 residences, including studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units, ranging from 636 square feet to 1,829 square feet and $735,000 to $3.86 million. Traditional end-loan financing and Federal Housing Administration-insured loans are available for qualified buyers. TRD
