Matthew Blesso and Goods restaurant
Blesso Properties and Brooklyn member-based design center, 3rd Ward, are
joining forces, with the real estate investment firm advising the
design center on ways to expand, in addition to investing in their new
ventures. 3rd Ward currently has two locations in Brooklyn — home to 700 artists, craftsmen and creative professionals — with plans underway for additional facilities. One of Blesso and 3rd Ward’s first projects together is a roadside restaurant called Goods, located at 571 Lorimer Street at Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, where the team retrofitted a 1946 Spartan trailer and parked it in an abandoned lot. The inside of the trailer features a large, high-tech kitchen, and the formerly desolate plot has been converted into a garden. “Together, we want to positively impact the community through unused or overlooked properties, and Goods is the perfect example of this concept,” said 3rd Ward co-founder Jason Goodman. The team also confirmed plans to develop 3rd Ward offerings to include a “culinary incubator,” though no further details were disclosed. TRD
