The Hearst Tower’s retail brokerage team may have reason to celebrate: the tower on the corner of 57th Street and Eighth Avenue is close to signing its first retail tenant, according to the Post. CB Richard Ellis agents Richard Hodos, David Green and Stephen Sjurset have been in talks with homeware store Sur La Table for the last year, insiders say, and the potential tenant is close to inking a deal for a 5,800-square-foot ground-floor space. But the Landmarks Preservation Commission is slowing down the process, according to those with knowledge of the deal, because the retailer’s signage must be approved before it can go up. With the tower’s landmarked base, any additions or alterations to the facade are subject to an approval process. [Post, 2nd item]
