River Rock
Brownsville’s latest affordable housing development, the 54-unit River Rock at 206 Riverdale Avenue, is officially open. According to the Brooklyn Eagle, a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the $15.2 million, mixed-use rental complex, a joint venture of the non-profit Sabaoth Group and GuyTech Management Services, drew attendees including Borough President Marty Markowitz and Marc Jahr, president of the city’s Housing Development Corporation. Funded through HDC’s Low-Income Affordable Marketplace Program, 11 of River Rock’s housing units will be reserved for formerly homeless families. In total, the 49,957-square-foot property has 16 one-bedroom units, 37 two-bedroom units, plus a home for the live-in superintendent. The ground-floor retail space totals 12,000 square feet, and there is 3,800 square feet on the second floor reserved for community space, where the Sabaoth Group will offer assistance to special needs tenants.
