While the broker-client relationship can often come with its share of strained moments, New York City agents say they’re being met with more unreasonable — and testy — demands from customers, according to the New York Times. Many agents attribute the bad behavior to the bumpy summer market, leading many buyers and renters to demand above-and-beyond service, or else. “They treat us like we’re starving and we need to do them all kinds of favors to possibly make some money,” Michele Conte, a broker with the Corcoran Group, said. But Sarah Parsons, an agent with Halstead Property, says she’s noticed some skittish behavior from sellers in the down economy, as well. “The buyers got more demanding and the sellers got more frightened,” Parsons said.
