Clinton wedding site gets $5.5M price chop

The historic Rhinebeck estate that served as the backdrop for Chelsea Clinton’s wedding, and which had its price bumped up from $12 million to $13 million right after the big event, is now slated to go up for auction with a minimum bid of just $7.5 million, according to the Post. The 50-acre property, Astor Courts, was built in 1904 for John Jacob Astor IV and is currently owned by real estate developer Arthur Seelbinder, his brother, Oscar, and wife, Kathleen Hammer. It includes a Stanford White-designed Beaux-Arts mansion with an indoor pool, clay tennis court and views of the Hudson River. The trio bought the home for $3.2 million in 2004 and spent millions on renovations. They had evidently hoped to cash in on the attention the July 1 ceremony garnered for the property with the $1 million price bump, but have yet to find any takers. [Post]
