Joie to open first U.S. store on UES

Women’s clothier Joie is set to open its first U.S. location at 1200 Madison Avenue between 87th and 88th streets, according to retail real estate firm Robert K. Futterman & Associates, which represented the landlord. The 1,346-square-foot retail shop is expected to open in spring 2011. The length of the lease and the cost of the rent was not immediately clear. Beth Rosen, a senior director with RKF who helped broker the deal, said the Joie was attracted to the space because it “has a strong customer base on the Upper East Side” and because the retail spot, which is located a block from the Guggenheim Museum, has “heavy pedestrian traffic.” TRD
