Stephen Ross and 400 West 12th Street
The deed for an unlisted fourth-floor condominium at the Related Companies’ recently record-breaking Superior Ink condominium was quietly transferred earlier this month to the Related mastermind himself, CEO Stephen Ross. The price of unit 4J at 400 West 12th Street? Zero dollars, of course — and it isn’t the first time. Ross currently lives in a sprawling, 9,290-square-foot penthouse at the Time Warner Center, which he “bought” in 2006 for an equally-low $0. And in June, Curbed reported that Superior Ink apartment #6D went in a freebie transfer to Susan De Franca, president of sales at Related. Ross wasn’t immediately available for comment, and since a listing for unit 4J never surfaced, not much information is available about the new spread. But by comparison, unit 3J, which went into contract last month, was last listed for $5.125 million.

The estate of Wall Street titan Lionel Pincus — whose duplex at the Pierre Hotel was, for years, the subject of a headline-grabbing legal battle amongst his heirs — has closed the lesser of the late Warburg Pincus financier’s two Upper East Side trophy apartments, at 733 Park Avenue, for $12 million, property records show. The 7,000-square-foot home was listed in January for $12.5 million with Joan Kaplan of the Corcoran Group and went to a buyer cloaked under the identity of “CES Trust.” Pincus’ prized spread at the Pierre, once listed for $50 million, was yanked from the market after his longtime companion, Princess Firyal of Jordan, won control of it last year.

In May 2008, Christine Wasserstein — ex-wife of the late investment banker Bruce Wasserstein — took less than a week to sell off the 1030 Fifth Avenue co-op she had once shared with the Lazard CEO, for $34 million, and then married Daniel Rattiner, the Hamptons newspaper mogul, a few months later. Apparently she’s been missing the neighborhood, because Wasserstein just closed on an unlisted $7.75 million unit at 1035 Fifth Avenue, according to a deed filed with the city today. The seller was public relations guru Clive Chajet and his wife Bonnie, a broker at Warburg Realty.
