The Upper East Side condominium at 515 East 72nd Street, formerly known as Miraval Living, is a getting a new, cheaper spa operator. In October, the 365-unit building parted ways with its namesake spa after a dispute over delays and payments. Developer River Terrace Apartments, which has sold about half of its units there, told the New York Times yesterday that it has since signed on Setai Fifth Avenue spa and fitness center operator American Leisure and expects to open its own spa in early March. Residents’ monthly charges to access the 40,000-square-foot amenity space — including the spa, a fitness center and indoor swimming pool — will be slashed by 40 percent as a result of the switch. Miraval Living had been planning to charge $250 for a one-bedroom apartment and $400 for a two-bedroom. Earlier this month, a representative for 515 East 72nd Street told The Real Deal that problems between the developer and Miraval stemmed from the spa’s rapid personnel turnover and the spa’s alleged indecision on crucial operational issues.
