An historical look at Napster founder’s $20M West Village Bacchus House

While some might assume Sean Parker, inventor of Napster and investor in Facebook, is the most famous owner to snatch up the so-called West Village Bacchus House at 40 West 10 Street, which he bought for $20 million in December, New York magazine says the home has a long history of noteworthy residents. Beginning with a railroad-operating family, the Laniers, who bought the home in 1851, the 178-year-old home has seen owners including a department store baron, an author of devotional prayers and famed sculptor Charles Keck. The latest owner, appropriately enough for a bacchanalian home, was Enrico Cinzano, whose family owns an apertif and spirits manufacturing business. [NY Mag]
