The 36,000-square-foot structure that comprises three adjoining buildings on Little West 12th Street — Nos. 1, 3 and 5 — was gut renovated by WeWork, an office company that also manages buildings at 154 Grand Street in Soho and 349 Fifth Avenue near 34th Street. The building, aside from a first-floor retail space that currently houses Bagatelle restaurant, has been left empty since a gay health club departed more than a decade ago.

WeWork designs buildings in a “communal model,” according to its operational manager Megan Mallow, to include glass walls separating offices and TV lounges. The Meatpacking building is optimized for small offices of one to six people that range in price from $800 to $3,900 per month. A recent New York Daily News feature on the firm dubbed the spaces “an alternative to working at home.” Signed tenants include a small music company, an event planning group, a band tour planner, an interior designer and an Australian franchise.

“We have a long waiting list of people wanting to see the building,” Mallow said. “It’s [because of] the type of creative atmosphere that’s surrounding the neighborhood.” [DNAinfo and NYDN]
