Basketball big man Zydrunas Ilgauskus’ Soho townhouse is back on the market, Crain’s reported, asking $37,500 per month.
As The Real Deal previously reported, the 7-foot-3 Center known as “Big Z” first put the 5,000-square-foot, Novogratzes-designed home at 24 Thompson Street on the rental market in Dec. 2010 with Josh Fields of the Spire Group. At the time, his wife, Jennifer, told The Real Deal that they decided to rent the house out after Ilgauskus signed with the Miami Heat, and began spending less time in the city. Ilgauskus had previously played with the Cleveland Cavaliers for 12 seasons. He and Jennifer purchased the house for $6.95 million in 2006.
In March, the house was rented out for $85,000 for two months, according to previous reports. Shortly after former French monetary fund director Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s arrest in June, his wife, Anne Sinclair, had struck a deal to rent the townhouse with her husband for six months and $198,000, Crain’s said, but that fell apart after Strauss-Kahn upped his budget and settled on a home at 153 Franklin Street in Tribeca.
Citing previous reports, Crain’s said celebrities Courtney Love and Sacha Baron Cohen were among the renters interested in the Big Z townhouse. [Crain’s]
