A vacant four-story townhouse property at 55 East 54th Street, formerly home of American seafood eatery Oceana, has been leased to a partnership led by two Manhattan restaurant gurus, the New York Post reported, and will soon be reinvented as a Mediterranean restaurant.
Tim Pappas, maître d’ at Estiatorio Milos, and Costa Youssis, owner of Veranda in the West Village, are planning a massive renovation.
The 8,300-square-foot property has sat vacant since Oceana moved to a larger space at the McGraw Hill building at 120 West 49th Street more than two years ago. It’s been a challenge to rent because of its four-level configuration, the Post said.
Sierra Realty brokered the deal on behalf of the landlord, a company controlled by Park Tower Realty chief George Klein. CB Richard Ellis represented the tenant. Terms of the lease were not available. [Post]
