Elliman agent hit by shopping cart was technically dead at crime scene, will “never be the same”

Marion Hedges, the Prudential Douglas Elliman agent hit by a shopping cart thrown off the roof of a Harlem shopping center in October, was technically dead at the scene, the New York Post reported. Hedges was revived by a resident at New York Hospital who was shopping at Target at the time of the accident. A law enforcement source told the Post about the heroics that helped to save Hedges’ life, but said the agent “will never be the same. … She will have cognitive issues.”

Hedges, who worked out of Elliman’s office at 575 Madison Avenue, was placed in a medically-induced coma after the accident. She has since regained consciousness but had to relearn her name, the Post said.

The source also said that the alleged assailants, who were both 12 years old at the time of the incident, showed little remorse and were mainly concerned with how they had been caught. Of one of the alleged perpetrators, the source said, “He’s not your typical 12-year-old kid. He’s pretty street-savvy.” [Post]
