Fresh off the sale of Sandy Weill’s $88 million 15 Central Park West condominium, songwriter Denise Rich is listing her 785 Fifth Avenue co-op for $65 million, the New York Post reported, making it the most expensive co-op in the city.
The 12,000-square-foot duplex penthouse, at the corner of East 60th Street, is the largest penthouse ever offered on Fifth Avenue, according to the listing agents, Bonnie Evans, Noble Black and Chezz Levi of the Corcoran Group. The price works out to about $5,400 per square-foot, $7,600 less per foot than Weill netted for his home.
The apartment has three outdoor spaces, one that can hold 200 people, another that Rich once converted into an ice-skating rink for a party, according to the Post, and a smaller wrap-around number. It also has seven bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, three kitchens, a media room, a library with a fireplace and a full gym that overlooks Central Park.
Rich, who was married to one-time international oil fugitive Marc Rich and has written songs for Mary J. Blige, Aretha Franklin and Mandy Moore, told the Post that she wants to sell the apartment because it’s too big for her now that her daughters moved to Europe. She plans to move to a smaller place in the city. [Post]
