Buy a house — or at least mention a master-bathroom — and score a date

For those still in need of a date for Valentine’s Day, real estate website Trulia.com has some advice — buy a house.

In a survey of 1,000 singletons conducted for Trulia.com and cited by CNN, more than a third of women and 18 percent of men said they would much rather date a homeowner than someone who rents their apartment. Just 2 percent of women said they preferred to date a man who rents, while only 3 percent of men said they would choose a woman who rents over one who owns her home.

To really turn on the charm, a simple mention that your house has a master-bathroom can do the trick, the data shows. About two thirds of men said they dug a woman with a master-bath , while 75 percent of women said it might be a deal-maker. Walk-in closets are also high in single folks’ lists of desirables.

The ultimate deal-breaker of course, is still living with parents.

“That’s a real deal-breaker,” said Michael Corbett, a spokesperson for Trulia. “If you’re still living with your folks, you’re dead-on-arrival for dating.” [CNN]
