Hamptons rental season begins early

Better weather this year means a better residential rental season in the Hamptons, the New York Post reported. Even the comparably small bonuses on Wall Street aren’t slowing down the rents, brokers said.

“The slowness from last year was because of the weather,” Ernie Cervi, executive managing director at the Corcoran Group’s Bridgehampton office, told the Post. “We literally couldn’t get to some of these houses.”

Renters are interested in shorter-term deals, as opposed to rentals for the whole season, however.

“As the prices of rentals have gotten larger and larger, there is more incentive on the landlords’ side to do irregular periods of time,” Stuart Epstein, managing director of Halstead Property’s East Hampton office, said. [Post]
