A landmarked Staten Island mansion that’s said to be haunted and the five-acre estate that surrounds it are on the market for a combined $11.6 million, the Staten Island Advance reported.
The Kreisher Mansion, at 4500 Arthur Kill Road in Charleston, was planned to be the cornerstone of a 124-unit, 55-plus community by developer Isaac Yamtovian, an Ohio-based businessman who has built more than 200 houses on the island. He purchased the site for $1.5 million in 1999, and struck a deal with the city to preserve the circa-1885 townhouse in exchange for the rights to develop a four-story, L-shaped building with an underground garage, pool, fitness center and some commercial space.
Yamtovian still hopes his vision comes to fruition, the Advance said, but he’s listed the mansion for $1.6 million with Vitale Sunshine Realtors and the five-acre estate with Massey Knakal Realty Services’ Michael Schneider for $10 million.
Schneider said there have already been viable offers for the site, as the Charleston-Tottenville neighborhood has become a hotbed for retail development, led by a new shopping center, an adult living community and a study sponsored by the city’s Economic Development Corporation to bring jobs and growth to the area.
“The income potential is there,” Schneider said. “This is the last forefront in New York City.” [SI Advance]
