Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn is contemplating the purchase of late businessman Teddy Forstmann’s East 70th Street co-op penthouse unit, the New York Post reported, but according to sources in the building, residents worry that Wynn’s current legal battle will disturb the building’s peace.
The battle lies between Wynn and former business partner Kazuo Okada, who Wynn has accused of making improper payments to foreign gaming regulators. Wynn has since taken back Okada’s 20 percent stake in the partnership at an $800 million discount, the Post wrote.
However, Okada has a counterclaim against Wynn, according to the Post, and asserts the allegations against him are false.
“The problem is, his situation with Okada is messy,” an unnamed source told the Post. “People close to the case say it ultimately may not be settled in the courtroom.” [Post]
