Montauk hotel and restaurant the Surf Lodge is for sale, a lawyer for the lodge told a judge at a closed-door pre-trial meeting regarding the lodge’s 700 pending zoning violations today, the East Hampton Star reported.
Colin Astarita, the Surf Lodge’s most recent attorney, told Judge Catherine Cahill that the four principals of the corporation, Jayma Cardoso, Jamie Mulholland, Rob McKinley and Steve Kamali, “are closing down … and selling the Surf Lodge,” the paper said. “They have two potential buyers. They are in a position where they would like to close this case, and they are moving on.”
The Surf Lodge received another adjournment in the ongoing case just yesterday.
When questioned on the expenses of restoring the property to meet all legal standards the lawyer said that the city of East Hampton had claimed victory in the protracted dispute. “They win. We’ll sell and let the new owner deal with whatever down the line.” [East Hampton Star]
