Huguette Clark’s storied penthouse at 907 Fifth Avenue, at 72nd Street, has entered into contract, the New York Observer reported.
The listing price was $24 million, likely due to the state of the apartment, which previous reports said had some appliances dating as far back as 1915 still littering the rooms. The price paid by the buyer, who was not disclosed, was not known.
“While one needs to envision the apartment brought up to date for today’s lifestyle, the bones are here for a unique and fabulous residence,” the listing says. Clark was known for her massive doll collection that occupied much of the apartment, though the dolls have since been moved to storage.
Mary Rutherfurd and Leslie Coleman of Brown Harris Stevens were marketing the apartment.
Clark’s unit, 12W, fronts entirely on Fifth Avenue and is being sold by the New York County public administrator, who is managing the estate of the eccentric heiress. [NYO]
