Newmark Knight Frank retail team heads to JLL

Jones Lang LaSalle is increasingly emphasizing retail tenant representation

Jones Lang LaSalle has hired the Newmark Knight Frank team of Paul Berkman, Craig Slosberg, Davie Berke and Justin Haber, according to a statement from JLL today. The team will head JLL’s expansion of its tenant representation practice in the retail sector.

JLL is “intensifying retail resources at the local level in select markets” — including Florida, the Midwest and Southern California — the statement said.

“With so many national and global retailers competing for Manhattan retail space, it was crucial for us to expand our ability in that arena,” Greg Maloney, president and CEO of Jones Lang LaSalle Retail said in the statement.

The team started last Wednesday. They will work out of JLL’s 330 Madison Avenue office, a spokesperson for JLL indicated.

Berkman will serve as executive vice president; he was a senior managing director at Newmark Knight Frank.

“Jones Lang LaSalle’s collaborative culture coupled with its unmatched national platform which provides superior resources will enable us to serve the needs of retailers and landlords in the New York metropolitan area,” Berkman said in the statement.

Like Berkman, Craig Slosberg will take an executive vice president position, and was a senior managing director at Newmark Knight Frank. Berke will serve as vice president, having previously held the title of director, and Haber will be an associate at JLL, the same title he held at Newmark.

“New York has always been a critical market for Jones Lang LaSalle,” said Peter Riguardi, president of Jones Lang LaSalle’s New York office, in the statement.
