LPC approves Hotel Chelsea renovation

In its second round before the Landmarks Preservation Commission, Gene Kaufman Architect’s plans for the Hotel Chelsea renovation were approved, with only one vote cast against the firm, Curbed reported. Changes to the plans, which were first seen two weeks ago, included removing the planters from the balconies and reducing the size of the rooftop addition, which will be now be metal instead of stucco.

GKA was named the architect for the renovations at the historic hotel last month. Those renovations have spawned a lawsuit due to environmental concerns and protests from unions after the owner opted to use non-union labor[Curbed]
