Could the Bossert Hotel become a hotel again?

The Bossert Hotel in Brooklyn Heights could make a comeback as a hotel, the New York Post reported. The Jehovah’s Witnesses own the property, located at 98 Montague Street, and will bring a proposal to Community Board 2 and the Board of Standards and Appeals next week seeking a zoning change for the hotel to cash in on this part of their building portfolio as they move upstate.

As The Real Deal previously reported, there was once a deal to bring student housing to the 14-story, 224-unit building. However, the deal fell through. Now, most of the 224 units are used as residences for Jehovah’s Witnesses volunteers. Several hotel developers are interested in buying the site, according to unnamed Post sources.

The hotel, once known as the “Waldorf Astoria of Brooklyn,” was where the Brooklyn Dodgers celebrated their only World Series win in 1955 before heading to Los Angeles. [Post]
