Mayor Bloomberg bought 33-acre Westchester property last year

Mayor Michael Bloomberg acquired a 33-acre estate in Westchester last year in addition to the widely reported 35-acre estate he purchased in Southampton, according to public tax returns and property records cited by the New York Times.

Bloomberg paid $4.55 million for the North Salem property and will likely combine it with an adjacent 20-acre estate he’s owned since 2001 for his equestrienne daughter Georgina. The mayor also owns another Westchester property in Armonk.

In addition to the three properties in the county, Bloomberg owns three homes in Manhattan, one in Vail, Colo., one in Wellington, Fla., one in Bermuda, one in London and the Southampton property he acquired for $20 million last year.

Bloomberg acquired the most recent North Salem property from the same man, Joseph Pinto, who sold him the adjacent estate in 2001. Pinto paid the mayor between $100,000 and $250,000 in rent to remain in the house at 39 Hilltop Drive. [NYT]
