Malkins bring Restoration Hardware to historic Greenwich building

The Malkin family — of Empire State Building fame — has signed a deal with Restoration Hardware to occupy a historic former Post Office in Greenwich, Conn. that it owns, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Malkins, who own the Empire State Building in conjunction with the estate of Leona Helmsley, bought the Greenwich property last year for more than $15 million, the Journal said. Calif.-based luxury furniture chain Restoration Hardware will occupy the 17,400-square-foot historic building as long as the Malkins’ plans receive certain zoning variances.

In a newsletter to investors sent by the Malkins, Anthony Malkin said that a 15-year net lease had been signed with a national retailer “whose products and reputation are consistent with, and appropriate for, this coveted site in one of the nation’s most desirable communities,” according to the Journal.
