“Baby Jane” penthouse sells

The former penthouse home of Jane Holzer, socialite, art collector and Andy Warhol’s “Baby Jane,” is now in contract for $17.5 million, the Wall Street Journal reported. Located inside the Volney at 23 East 74th Street on the Upper East Side, the contract price marks a 24 percent increase from the price that Holzer sold the co-op unit for in February 2009.

As previously reported, Holzer sold the home in 2009 to apparel mogul Jason Rabin and his wife for $14.1 million, despite originally having listed it in June 2008 for $22.5 million.

The Rabins listed the home last year for $23.5 million with three different brokerages, where it languished on the market. At the end of April, Judi Lederer and Jonathan Cohen of Town Residential got hold of the listing and made the sale last week to a fund manager whose name was left undisclosed.

Holzer put together the duplex penthouse from smaller units. The home has five bedrooms and 69 linear feet of terraces with views in every direction. [WSJ]
