Kelly Killoren Bensimon can’t catch a break. Not only was she dropped from the fifth season of Bravo TV’s “The Real Housewives of New York,” but the reality star and author has decided to chop the price of her East Hampton home yet again.
The 5,800-square-foot five-bedroom at 125 Further Lane has been on and off the market for years, but Bensimon most recently listed the property for $12 million in January. In February, she slashed the price by a third to $8 million; yesterday, another price cut brought the ask to a hair under $7 million. “We’re just trying to sell it,” Enzo Morabito, an agent with Prudential Douglas Elliman whose eponymous team has the exclusive listing, said of the motivation for the latest cut.
Morabito conceded that the original price was too high, but he said it was part of an effort to “feel out the market. And then the market speaks, you speak back, and then eventually you both speak the same language.”
The two-story home is also available as a rental, asking $160,000 for August through Labor Day, according to Streeteasy.com. Bensimon is prepared to welcome a tenant “tomorrow,” Morabito said, adding that the property had almost been rented but a couple of deals fell through.
Bensimon’s now ex-husband, fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon, bought the parcel of land that houses the residence for $750,000 in 1994, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Described in the listing as a “perfect blend of chic city design mixed with Hamptons comfort and charm,” the home sits on 1.2 acres and features a stainless steel kitchen and wood-beamed ceilings.
