A penthouse at the View in Long Island City has hit the market with an asking price of $3.25 million, listing broker Silvette Julian of Nestseekers confirmed to The Real Deal today. If the duplex sold for that price, that would make the unit the most expensive condominium ever sold in Queens.

The three-bedroom, four-bathroom unit is one of nine penthouses at the 18-story luxury building overlooking the East River. The corner, west-facing duplex is being sold by the buyer who originally purchased it from the sponsor, for $2.65 million in 2008, Julian said.

A $3.2 million sale would smash the previous record price for a condo in the borough, currently held by a unit at Aris Lofts, at 2728 Thompson Street, which sold for $3.04 million in 2008, according to figures provided by Streeteasy.com. Last year’s most expensive condo sale in Queens was another penthouse at the View, which sold for $1.66 million, according to Propertyshark.com. Three of the nine penthouses remain available, Julian said.

This penthouse features private outdoor space, granite counter tops, Italian marble in the bathrooms and hardwood floors throughout the 2,260-square-foot apartment. The building has a 24-hour doorman and concierge, optional parking, and a gym with an Olympic-size swimming pool, a fitness center and yoga facilities, among other amenities.

The 184-unit building, developed by TF Cornerstone, struggled with sales during the recession, and switched brokers last year, to Modern Spaces from Nestseekers. But the original buyer of this penthouse, whose identity was not disclosed, returned to Julian, with whom the buyer worked with when purchasing the condominium four years ago.
