A home that once belonged to the Filipino dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his wife, Imelda, the world’s most famous footwear aficionado, has hit the market for $4.95 million. The 8.2-acre waterfront estate is situated in Center Moriches, L.I., FilAm, a Filipino American newspaper, reported.
Sanford White designed the 16-bedroom, 17-bathroom home at 16 Sedgemere Road, which includes a carriage house and a pool, and is being marketed by Enzo Morabito of Prudential Douglas Elliman.
Imelda Marcos, famous for her collection of over 1,000 pairs of shoes, owned the home until 1987, according to FilAm, when the government of the Philippines took over the couple’s estimated $350 million in assets. The Marcoses fled the country in 1986 during a revolt against years of government corruption. [FilAm] — Guelda Voien
