George Comfort may acquire 75 Rockefeller Plaza

It’s been a busy week for George Comfort & Sons. The landlord, which formally placed Worldwide Plaza on the market earlier this week, is also in talks to buy 75 Rockefeller Plaza, the New York Observer reported.

The 600,000-square-foot tower is owned by Mohamed Al Fayed, a London-based retailing magnate. The property had been marketed by a team from Cushman & Wakefield, the Observer said, who were courting the likes of New York real estate’s creme de la creme: Vornado, SL Green and Tishman Speyer.

Fayed had hoped to arrange the sale as a leasehold interest, when the property hit the market earlier this year, the Observer said. It is unclear if the potential transaction with George Comfort would be a leasehold interest or a sale. [NYO] — Guelda Voien
