A $43 million adaptive reuse project in Brownsville, Brooklyn is now complete, Curbed reported. Two years ago, developer POKO Partners embarked on the redevelopment of the Pitkin Theaternto, a complex that includes retail and the Brownsville Ascend Charter School.
The theater – once home to the likes of Jackie Gleason, Milton Berle and Humphrey Bogart — closed in 1969.
POKO, with the help of architect Kitchen & Associates, restored many of the art deco features of the original building, Curbed said. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 13. [Curbed] — Guelda Voien
