Add another name to those backing the Rainbow Room’s “interior landmark” status: Tishman Speyer. Keith Douglas, managing director for Rockefeller Center at Tishman Speyer, which owns the property, this week came out in favor of the landmarking. There is still no word on when the Commission will take a vote on the matter or on who will operate the space.

“We have a deep respect for the history of this space and its importance within Rockefeller Center and within the fabric of New York City,” Douglas said at a public hearing Tuesday on the matter. “Protecting, maintaining and enhancing cherished landmark properties are an integral part of our company’s mission.”

The Rainbow Room atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza has been shuttered since 2009, due to a rent dispute between the Cipriani family and Tishman Speyer Properties. [Crain’s] – Christopher Cameron
