Think Manhattan apartment prices are getting out of control? Well, London has raised the bar to new heights.

A mansion in the Hyde Park section of the city has hit the market for 300 million pounds, or $483 million — more than twice the city’s previous sales record of 140 million pounds that was achieved at a One Hyde Park penthouse.

The home, at 2-8a Rutland Gate, once belonged to Lebanon’s late Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, and was passed on as a gift to Sultan bin Abdulaziz after Hariri’s assassination in 2005, according to the Telegraph.

The 60,000-square-foot property was originally built as four homes. It is said to be the largest remaining single-family home in London, containing 45 bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool, underground parking, bulletproof windows and millions of pounds worth of gold leaf decoration.

The home is not publicly listed and is instead being offered to a select list of international buyers by brokers from Knight Frank, according to the Financial Times. [Financial Times] and [Telegraph] — Adam Fusfeld
