Feil Organization signs law firm at 551 Fifth Avenue

Law firm Schoeman, Updike & Kaufman, LLP has leased just over 16,000 square feet on the twelfth floor of the Feil Organization’s 551 Fifth Avenue, the New York Observer reported.

Schoeman will move into the Fred F. French Building, between 45th and 46th streets, in the next few months. The women-owned firm, which has 17 attorneys, is currently based at 60 East 42nd Street.

“Schoeman wanted to consolidate the firm, which is now spread over two floors, onto a single floor,” law firm partner Nancy Connery told the Observer.

Connery listed the 551 Fifth’s architectural details and art deco lobby as reasons for choosing the building, as well as the Feil Organization’s reputation and a “competitive package” negotiated by Schoeman’s representative, Rick Marek, president of the Vortex Group. Kenneth Friedland of the Garth Organization also represented the law firm.

“Last, but certainly not least, the building’s leasing agent Kevin Driscoll made it easy for us to move there,” Connery said, referring to Feil’s director of commercial leasing, who represented the landlord in the transaction. [NYO] – Leigh Kamping-Carder
