The Quin, Manhattan’s newest hotel at 101 West 57th Street, is gearing up to open this winter. The website for the 198-room hotel is now up and running, according to Hotel Chatter, which has images of some of its guest rooms.
As previously reported, the former Buckingham Hotel, which previously served as home to cultural icons such as the opera singer Giovanni Martinelli and the painter Georgia O’Keefe, traded for $60 million in 2010 when UBS Realty Investors bought it from a partnership headed by Equinox founder Danny Errico. The Quin, as it has now been named, will be operated by Highgate Hotels.
The renovation project has had its share of drama. Some of the buildings residents complained last year that the high levels of toxic dust caused by construction was making them ill. Several fines have been issued in regards to work at the property, but no major health or safety violations have ben issued. [Hotel Chatter] – Katherine Clarke
