New York City’s real estate players are burning down the house tonight – for charity. Attorney Carl Schwartz, investment executive Howard Glatzer and development executive David Lowenfeld will headline the second annual ‘Rockers in Relief’ concert, which gathers real estate professionals from across the industry for a night of classic rock-influenced performances.

The concert benefits the Jewish Disaster Response Corps, a charity founded by Lowenfeld’s son, Elie, that assists American communities with disaster recovery. David Lowenfeld acts as the executive vice president of developer Worldwide Group when he isn’t playing in his band, Midlife.

When David asked his friend Schwartz, a partner at law firm Hunton & Williams, to help him raise money for the JDRC, something clicked. Schwartz also moonlights as a bassist and vocalist for the band Normal by Day, and a benefit concert was a natural fundraising idea, he told The Real Deal.

“Normal by Day was just coming off of a gig (which meant we had rehearsed), and I knew David’s band had been active,” Schwartz said. “The light went on.”

“Once we came up with a name for the event, I knew it would work,” he added.

Glatzer of 40 North Properties, an investment firm, and Mitchell Sikora of JTP Capital, an investment firm, will also be preforming with their band RIPChORD.

The Concert Will Take Place at the Canal Room at 285 West Broadway. Special guests include David Welsh of Normandy Real Estate Partners; Randy Reiff of Macquarie Group; Billy Procida of Procida Advisors; Billy Mendelson of Newmark Knight Frank; Chris LaBianca of RCG Longview; Jacqueline Hlavenka of GlobeSt.com / Real Estate Forum; and Joe Bezzone of BEZZONE Hospitality.

“It’s really a lot of fun to play music with people you do business with,” Schwartz said. “Great friendships can be formed at high decibel levels.” —Christopher Cameron
