A stately sprawling co-op owned by Susan Soros, ex-wife of the billionaire businessmen and philanthropist George Soros, has hit the market with a $50 million ask, according to the New York Times. The 6,000-square-foot apartment in the Majestic — the dual-towered 29-story Art Deco building at 115 Central Park West at 72nd Street — comes with a separate one-bedroom, one-bath servant’s quarters.
As The Real Deal reported, George Soros’ daughter Andrea Soros Colombel listed her Greenwich Village townhouse for $29.5 million earlier this week.
In 2006, following her divorce, Susan Soros picked up the apartment in an off the market $25 million deal with the previous owner David Mimran, an investor. Mimran had purchased the unit in for $12.3 million in 2004 from longtime resident Ian Schrager, a hotelier and developer. Schrager had commissioned renowned designer Philippe Starck to do the interiors, which Soros has since renovated.
The No.19E/F apartment occupies a northeast corner of the building. The listing is a five-bedroom, five-bathroom unit that includes a powder room and a master bedroom with a private terrace. Every principal room has commanding views of Central Park. Soros has listed the property with S. Christopher Halstead of Halstead Property. [NYT] –Christopher Cameron
