The home of U.S. Rep. Bob Turner was one of the casualties of the fire that engulfed Breezy Point, Queens amid Hurricane Sandy, Crain’s reported.

A Washington spokesman for Turner, a Republican who represents parts of Queens and Brooklyn — Anthony Weiner’s former district — confirmed that Turner’s primary residence burned down in the fire, which consumed an estimated 80 homes late yesterday and early today, Crain’s said.

While Turner remained at his house until late in the storm, he and his family made it out of the area safely, a spokesperson told Crain’s.

Mike Long, a neighbor and chairman of the Conservative Party of New York, told Crain’s that homes in the area “aren’t even burnt, they’re completely gone.” Long’s home was destroyed, but his family also made it to safety, he told Crain’s. [Crain’s] –Guelda Voien
