Selling for $1.34 million yesterday, a Bedford-Stuyvesant brownstone has set a neighborhood price record, the New York Daily News reported. A New Jersey couple purchased the three-family townhouse, built in 1875 and located at 333 Macdonough Street, for $45,000 more than the original asking price.
The townhouse is composed of a two-bedroom unit and two one-bedroom units, which when rented will help supplement the owner’s mortgage payments.
“We had 50 people at the first open house,” Brooke Safford of Corcoran Group, a neighborhood specialist who had the exclusive listing, said. “To get this amazing house on this amazing block for this price is still a deal. It would be four times the price in Park Slope.”
According to census date cited by the Daily News, in that area of Bed-Stuy, the number of households earning $75,000 or more rose from 20 percent to 36 percent between 2000 and 2010. [NYDN] —Christopher Cameron
