Cohen Brothers’ Sherman Cohen dies at 91

Sherman Cohen, the co-founder of Cohen Brothers Realty & Construction, died Tuesday at the age of 91, Real Estate Weekly reported. Cohen founded the firm with his two older brothers, Mortimer and Edward, in 1959. Besides building and managing a collection of residential high-rises on the East Side, the firm also developed Class A office towers in Manhattan beginning in the 1960s. Cohen’s son, Charles, helped expand the firm’s nationwide portfolio of Class A properties in Los Angeles, Houston and Southeast Florida.

Sherman Cohen was a known philanthropist, who along with his wife, Gloria, supported the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as well as the eponymous Sherman and Gloria H. Cohen Dialysis Center at New York Presbyterian’s Rogosin Institute. [REW]Zachary Kussin
