W’burg’s Edge was best-selling building of 2012
Williamsburg’s the Edge sold 167 units with a median sale price of more than $800,000 in 2012, making it the best selling building in New York City, according to data compiled by Property Shark. This is the second consecutive year that the Edge took the top spot on Property Shark’s list.
In 2011, Douglaston Development’s 500-unit condo project sold 272 units with a median sale price of more the $672,000. MNS handled sales in the building —where the brokerage also leases a 3,000-square-foot office — before it sold out late last year.
“The Edge was deemed the coolest building in Williamsburg before construction was even finished,” Andrew Barrocas, CEO of MNS, said. “Once construction was complete and people were able to see the residences and what the building has to offer, they realized that there was nothing comparable in Williamsburg. The high-level of finishes and quality of craftsmanship, along with the success of the marketing campaign helped us push sales quickly.”
The second best selling building of 2012 was the Sheffield, located at 32 West 57th Street in Midtown. The Sheffield sold 102 units with a median sales price approaching $1.5 million. The 99 John Deco Lofts buildings, at 99 John Street in the Financial District, ranked third with 84 units sold and a median sale price of $675,000. —Christopher Cameron
