The World Financial Center is set to see a toothsome new tenant. Restaurateur Peter Poulakakos, the operator of the Financier Patisserie coffee chain, has inked a deal for a 30,000-square-foot food marketplace and restaurant at the 8 million-square-foot, four-building complex, the New York Post reported.
The lease with Brookfield Office Properties calls for two restaurants: one outdoor seasonal eatery and one seafood spot, as well as a market that has yet to be named. The space is divided roughly into 23,000 square feet indoors and 7,000 square feet outside and will open sometime around summer 2014.
Poulakakos, who also operates other Financial District eateries, including Harry’s Cafe and Steak, Ulysses and Bayard’s, beat out celebrity food names, such as Todd English, Cipriani’s and Steven Starr, for the space. [NYP] —Christopher Cameron
