A 25-foot wide limestone townhouse on the Upper East Side has sold for $22.9 million, the New York Times reported. The 17-room property at 106 East 71st Street was most recently listed for $26.5 million.
The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom townhouse boasts seven wood-burning fireplaces, mahogany panels, two wet bars, a planted garden, and a paneled “penthouse library.” The seller – listed in city records as an LLC called 135 — was represented by the Corcoran Group’s Carrie Chiang and Janet Wang, who were named the brokerage’s top sales team of 2012. The buyer was a LLC listed as Hash Bass.
Chiang declined to reveal the buyer to the Times, but said that “106 East 71st Street is a rare find.” [NYT] –Hiten Samtani
