Real estate heir Robert Durst has gone to court in an attempt to get the investigative files on his missing wife whom he was suspected of killing more than 20 years ago, the New York Daily News reported.
Durst, brother of Durst Fetner head honcho Douglas Durst, argued that the investigation has stagnated and that there is no longer any reason for the Manhattan Surrogate Court to hold more than $80,000 in life insurance left by Kathleen Durst, missing since in 1982 and presumed dead.
Prosecutors allege, though, that the independently wealthy Durst only wants access to the files to hamper the investigation and find out the name of potential witnesses.
Investigators suspect Durst of another grisly incident, the December 2000 execution of journalist Susan Berman, who was set to be brought in for questioning over Kathleen Durst’s disappearance. Durst was also thought to be connected to the murder of an elderly neighbor at his Galveston, Texas home, but he was acquitted of those charges in 2002. [NYDN] –Hiten Samtani
