Long-closed Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx will be converted into one of the country’s largest ice skating rinks, Mayor Michael Bloomberg will announce today.
National Ice Center Partners will spearhead the conversion at an estimated cost of $250 million, the New York Post reported in advance of Bloomberg’s announcement. The deal has not been finalized, however.
The New York Islanders will practice at the new rink when the team moves from Long Island to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in 2015, a source told the Post. [NYP] –Guelda Voien
