The media outlet known for kitty GIFs and other quirky news is moving into a 57,691-square-foot space at 200 Fifth Avenue between West 23rd and West 24th streets, the New York Post reported. BuzzFeed will sublease the entire eighth floor from jewelry titan Tiffany for two years.
Steven Marvin of Olmstead Properties represented BuzzFeed in the transaction and Greg Taubin of Studley represented Tiffany.
BuzzFeed currently occupies about 24,000 square feet at 54 West 21st Street, a building owned by Olmstead. The current asking rent at the Fifth Avenue property is $49 a square foot, the Post said.
BuzzFeed wanted to stay in its existing neighborhood or be on one floor and still have flexibility, sources told the Post. [NYP] –Hayley Kaplan
