Seward Park proposals due Monday, but details will stay hidden to public

Proposals for the Seward Park redevelopment site on the Lower East Side are due Monday, and the city intends to choose a developer in the fall, the Lo-Down reported. However, the public will get very little or no information on the number of proposals submitted or their content until then, the blog said.

Only a community task force will get access to “summaries” of viable proposals “with identifying information removed.”

New York City Economic Development Corp. have said in the past that fair bidding processes require full confidentiality.

Some big city developers are expected to pitch in their plans, including Forest City Ratner and the Related Companies, as previously reported.

The site redevelopment will accommodate 1,000 new residences, up to 600,000 square feet of commercial space, and community space, the Lo-Down said. [Lo-Down] —Zachary Kussin
