Murray Hill residents are unhappy with the allegedly raucous behavior outside the Pod 39 hotel at 145 East 39th Street, the New York Post reported.
Neighbors have complained to the city and the 367-room, 17-story hotel regarding loud music, partying outside the building and the smell of urine. They worry their property values will plummet, the Post said.
“We’ve been made aware of a few complaints, and we are addressing them,” Pod Hotels Managing Director David Bernstein wrote in a statement printed by the Post.
The hotel in the old Allerton House is an extension of developer BD Hotels’ 345-room Pod Hotel, at 230 East 51st Street, which opened in 2007. It has a top-floor lounge and bar, and opened last June.
Founded by Richard Born and Ira Drukier, BD Hotels ranked No. 11 on TRD’s list last year of the biggest Manhattan hotel owners with 1,336 rooms across seven properties. [NYP] –Mark Maurer
