Art Deco condo heads to Forest Hills, Queens

A new Art Deco condominium complex is rising in Queens’ Forest Hills neighborhood, DNAinfo reported. The 16-story building is being developed by Cord Meyer and designed by Morali Architects, and will have 100 units.

Anthony Coletti, the chief operating officer at Cord Meyer, told DNAinfo that the cost of the units – mostly one and two-bedroom apartments – will range between $600,000 and $750,000.

The design calls for an Art-Deco inspired concept that incorporates sharp angles and setbacks instead of putting the building in “a square box,” according to DNAinfo. The building, to be named the Aston, would “correspond nicely with the history of the Forest Hills 1930s Art Deco movement,” Morali principal Anthony Morali told DNAinfo.

“The Great Gatsby comes to Queens again in a modern version,” Morali said, and added that the building would have a rooftop garden and a CVS pharmacy on the ground floor. [DNAinfo]  – Hiten Samtani
